The 2011 summer course has been a great success with over 70 learners from all over the World attending block courses on various levels over a 4 or 8 week period. As well as learning in the classroom the learners enjoyed organised trips to the Big Pit in Blaenavon, the Llanelli Wetland Centre a BBQ and many other social events.
Hannah Hillam from the Intermediate level said: ‘’I have met so many great people from different backgrounds. I’ve loved that Welsh has been the common language between the Argentineans’ and us’’
For the first time this year the Welsh for Adults Centre welcomed 10 Newly Qualified Teachers to learn Entry level Welsh. These teachers will be able to use their newly gained Welsh skills with children in their new schools from September.
Sarah Norris said: ‘’I have enjoyed the interesting group of people in my class and the intensive nature of the classes has done a great deal for my confidence’’
The Summer course draws to a close at the end of this week however the Centre prepares to welcome the start of a new term with new Welsh courses beginning all over Cardiff and the Vale of Glamorgan from the 19th of September onwards. Brand new courses include 2 week block courses and a new beginners 1 day a month course.
Current learners can brush up on their skills before the 19th of September with special revision workshops held on Saturday the 10th of September from 10am – 4pm for only £15.
